DMV Permit Prep ("we", "us") helps people study for driver's permit, motorcycle and CDL knowledge tests. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account details: your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- Practice activity: the tests you take, your scores and which questions you got right or wrong, so we can track your progress, award stars and rotate exam questions.
- Purchases: which Premium pass you bought (state, license type and plan) and when it expires. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
- Support messages: what you send through our contact form (your name, email and message, plus the state and license you're studying and your device type) so we can help and reply to you.
- Preferences on your device: your chosen state and license type, and your sign-in session, are stored in your browser so the site remembers you.
How we use it
- To run your account, save your progress and unlock the tests you're entitled to.
- To provide rewards and discounts, such as the free-test reward.
- To improve our questions and the app.
- To contact you about your account or purchases.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run the app: Supabase (database and sign-in), our hosting provider, Google (for Google sign-in and, in the free version, ads), and our payment processor. They only process your information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Advertising
The free version of DMV Permit Prep may show ads from Google AdSense. Ads never appear during a test, and Premium pass holders don't see ads at all.
Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings or learn more at aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Keeping your information
We keep your account and progress while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
Children
DMV Permit Prep is meant for people preparing for a driver's permit or license. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Security
Your data is stored with access rules so only you (and our administrators) can see your account and results. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
