Tennessee Permit Test Practice
Tennessee is one of the few states where your parent can proctor the permit test at home. The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security offers an online knowledge test for applicants 15 to 17, supervised by a parent or legal guardian through the Tennessee Proctor ID app on a computer, laptop or tablet. Results are emailed when you finish, and you can also test in person at a Driver Services Center.
The test has 30 questions and you need 80% (24 correct). After you pass, the learner permit (Class PD) lets you drive with a licensed driver 21 or older, never between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. You'll hold it at least 180 days and log 50 hours, including 10 at night, before an intermediate license. Practicing free on DMV Permit Prep is an easy way to get comfortable with the format before your parent hits start.
