Ohio Permit Test Practice
In Ohio, your first step behind the wheel is the temporary instruction permit identification card, or TIPIC, issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). You can get one at 15 and a half after passing a vision screening and a knowledge test that mixes road-sign and traffic-law questions. You need 75% to pass, so a few careless misses can sink you.
Ohio raised the stakes in 2025: since September 30, 2025, every new driver under 21, not just teens, must finish 24 hours of driver ed classroom work, 8 hours behind the wheel and 50 logged practice hours before the road test. That makes the permit test the gateway to a longer process, so it pays to pass it on the first try. Practicing free on DMV Permit Prep lets you drill Ohio's signs, OVI rules and right-of-way questions until the real test feels routine.
