Massachusetts Permit Test Practice

In Massachusetts the learner's permit comes from the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), and you can apply at 16. One thing that makes the Bay State different: after your Service Center visit, where the RMV checks your documents, gives the vision test and takes your photo, you can take the permit exam online at home within 60 days, using a computer with a working camera.

The exam is 25 questions and you need 18 correct to pass. It's drawn from the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, so expect questions on rotaries, the Junior Operator License (JOL) rules and Massachusetts' strict hands-free law. Teens then need driver's ed, a parent class and 40 hours of supervised driving before the road test. Practice free on DMV Permit Prep before you log in for the real thing.
