Maryland Permit Test Practice

Maryland's Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) runs one of the toughest permit tests in the country. The knowledge test is only 25 questions, but you need 88% to pass, which means missing no more than 3. It's taken on the MVA's web-based Law Test System at a branch, with a 20-minute time limit.

Maryland's Rookie Driver program also starts earlier than most: you can apply at 15 years and 9 months, then hold the permit for 9 months and log 60 supervised hours before the provisional license. Questions cover road signs, rules of the road, impaired driving, sharing the road with bicyclists and Maryland's hands-free law. With so little room for mistakes, it pays to practice free on DMV Permit Prep until you're scoring 90% or better every time.
